LactaHub’s workshop introduces the Public Health Ethics Framework, a key component of EFBRI – An Evolving Ethical Framework  Informing Breastfeeding Research and Interventions. Featuring perspectives and case studies from international experts, the workshop was part of the Forum for Global Health Ethics Webinar Series.

The Public Health Ethics Framework consolidates rules and guidelines from major ethics documents into 9 guiding principles relevant to breastfeeding and lactation interventions. Developed by experts at the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and History of Medicine, University of Zurich: Nikola Biller-Andorno, Julian W. März, Supriya Subramani, and Rasita Vinay.

Purpose of the framework:

• For policymakers: Evaluate breastfeeding interventions for diverse, vulnerable populations.

• For implementers: Guide interventions in everyday settings at national, regional, or hospital levels.

• For ethical evaluation: Provide guidance on ethical considerations in promoting breastfeeding.
